The Jiva Institute
~ Economy Package ~
Vraj Yoga Tours offers two unique options for meals and accommodation to best suit the needs of your group.
The first option is the Economy package at the Jiva Institute where the Rutgers students stay. These facilities are two star and cater to a group who want the comforts of India on a good budget. While comfortable, JIVA has more of an ashram flavor for those attracted to this type of mood.
~ Accomodation ~
The accommodation facilities in the JIVA Institute guesthouse are in a gated compound with 24 hour security.
In-Room Amenities Include:
- Air conditioners
- Work desk
- Western shower and toilet facilities
- 24 hour filtered water
- Marble floors
~ The Dining Hall ~
Enjoy three daily meals at the Jiva Institute’s large dining hall. The Ayurvedic Chef prepares nutritious vegetarian meals (no onions or garlic) with best efforts to accommodate diet restrictions and food allergies with vegan options available. All meals on the Vraj Yoga tours are vegetarian, including all meals on the trips to Jaipur and Agra. Vegan options are always available.
~ YOGA ~
When staying at The Jiva all tour members will have spacious and peaceful yoga facilities available.
The JIVA institute has a very large basement hall for yoga practice, and an extensive enclosed rooftop that can also be used in clement weather. Local Yoga instruction is not provided, as the expectation is that the studio owners will wish to instruct their own students. Yoga practice can be inserted into the day’s activities according to the wishes and needs of the students.
Yoga Philosophy Classes
The resident teacher and founder of the Jiva Institute is Satyanarayana Dasa Babaji, an ordained renunciant in a 16th century Vrindavan devotional lineage (Gaudiya Vaishnavism). He spent many years studying the classical Indian knowledge systems from traditional teachers of the various schools. While he spends most of the year in India, he usually travels overseas in the summer to teach in yoga studios in the West. If the yoga groups would like free daily classes on the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, or other aspect of Yoga philosophy they should coordinate the tour at a time when Satyanarayana Dasa is Vrindavan (presently from the beginning of October to mid-May).
